If you have ever wondered where escorts are most concentrated across the UK, the honest answer is “mostly in a handful of big places, and London is in a league of its own”. I counted the profiles on AdultWork for every UK county the site offers and for 151 towns and cities, so you can see the whole picture in one place. London is the clear number one: 3,339 escorts, 3,060 female, about 22% of the UK total.
Greater Manchester is the biggest county outside London with 708 escorts (642 female).
5 AdultWork counties had no escorts at all: Shetland Islands, Armagh, Fermanagh, Argyll and Bute, Western Isles.
One thing to keep in mind all the way through: these are profile counts on one website on one day. They are not a census of the industry, and I have flagged anything that is only my guess.
How we counted
We counted the profiles. On 16 October 2026 I ran AdultWork’s own search for every UK county value the site offers and for 151 towns and cities, reading the “profiles found” total each time rather than opening profiles. Escorts here means profiles with the Escort box ticked in AdultWork’s standard search, and I split each count by gender (female, male) as AdultWork records it. County figures use AdultWork’s own county filter, so they don’t overlap. City figures use a 10-mile radius around the city-centre postcode, so neighbouring cities share profiles and you should never add them together. London is shown as one area: AdultWork’s London region, all 33 boroughs. These are profile counts on one platform on one day, not a census, and one person can have more than one profile.
The UK in numbers
The headline is 15,169 escort profiles across the UK on 16 October 2026. Of those, 13,178 are female and 1,522 are male (10.0%). That leaves about 469 couple, group or unspecified profiles. Separately, 1,001 profiles also carry AdultWork’s Trans tick. That tick overlaps with the gender field, so please read it as “of which” and never add it to the other numbers.
By nation, England has 12,792 of the counted region and county profiles, Scotland 898, Wales 480 and Northern Ireland 75. Those are region totals and leave out profiles with no region set. London sits on top at 3,339, followed by the South East with 1,961 and the North West with 1,638. At the bottom, the Channel Islands have 22.
The gender split is fairly steady. Counties with at least 100 escorts are mostly 80 to 92% female. The highest female shares are Glasgow (96%), Edinburgh (92%) and Buckinghamshire (92%). The lowest are Cornwall (75%), Oxfordshire (75%) and Lincolnshire (78%), which are also where the male share is highest: Cornwall and Oxfordshire at 22% male, Lincolnshire at 19%.

Two warnings before you read anything into that list. First, Dartford, Slough, Watford, Woking, St Albans, Basildon and Harlow all have 10-mile circles that reach into Greater London. That is why Dartford, Slough and Watford rank above Leeds and Glasgow, and why Woking and St Albans sit so high too. They are largely counting London profiles from a different centre point. Second, Manchester, Stockport, Oldham and Rochdale are one conurbation counted from different centres, and so are Birmingham, Walsall, Dudley and Solihull. Those rows share profiles, so please never add city rows together.
If you strip out London’s orbit, the top 10 cities are Manchester (573), Stockport (523), Birmingham (519), Walsall (490), Dudley (466), Oldham (463), Solihull (401), Leeds (300), Bradford (297) and Glasgow (291).
The map
The map near the top of this post shows the same story visually. Each AdultWork region is shaded by its total, with darker meaning fewer escorts, and gold bubbles mark the cities, sized by profile count within 10 miles. London is shown as the whole region. The city circles overlap, just as the numbers do, and the Channel Islands are in the Excel file but not on the map. The Isle of Man is excluded.

A low number may simply mean a rural, thinly populated area and a small local market. It does not tell you anything else.
What stands out
London is 22% of the UK on its own. Its busiest boroughs, using AdultWork’s county values, are City of London (564), City of Westminster (514), Kensington and Chelsea (328), Tower Hamlets (211) and Hillingdon (140). “City of London” looks like a default pick for central London rather than a real concentration in the Square Mile, so treat the borough numbers as indicative.
Greater Manchester is in a class of its own outside the capital. Its 708 is about 1.7 times the next English county, West Yorkshire, on 417. Birmingham as an AdultWork county (409) and Glasgow (297) show how much of the north and Midlands is centred on its big cities.
The commuter belt is strong. Hampshire, Kent, Essex and Hertfordshire all appear in the county top 15, as does Berkshire. That is partly where profiles say they are and partly AdultWork’s county boundaries, so I would keep any conclusion cautious. My guess is that proximity to London and good transport links play a part, but the data does not prove it.
Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland are much thinner. The whole of Scotland, at 898, has fewer escorts than Greater Manchester plus West Yorkshire. Wales has 480 and Northern Ireland only 75.

Caveats
- These are profile counts on one site, AdultWork, on one day, 16 October 2026. The search counts every matching profile regardless of when it was last active, so dormant profiles are included. Counts change daily: the UK escort total rose by five profiles during the two hours of collection.
- A profile is not a person. One person can have more than one profile, and some profiles belong to agencies.
- City counts overlap and must not be added together. County counts do not overlap. Seven cities’ circles reach into London.
- About 7% of UK escort profiles (1,043) have no county set, so county figures sum to 14,126 against the UK total of 15,169. Regions sum to 14,267.
- AdultWork’s county list is its own and mixes counties with cities and unitary authorities. Birmingham, Bristol, Glasgow and others appear as “counties”. Guernsey and Jersey are in AdultWork’s UK list under Channel Islands and are in the Excel but not the map. The Isle of Man is excluded.
- Nothing here says how many escorts are “active” or how many bookings happen.
